You've put your resume or created a Job Agent at bdjobs.com
but you're still waiting for the right response? Here are a few tips on
how to cut your wait short and keep your resume more chances to appear
while employers search for the resumes. Remember fresh and relevant
resumes have the best chances of bringing the Dream Job you always
wanted.
Submit your Full Resume
Many
candidates only provide their basic details like functional area, work
experience etc. If you submit your full resume covering your career
objective, past work experience (Names of Previous employers, nature of
responsibilities), achievements, skills along with basic information
like functional area, number of years of experience, current location,
preferred locations, educational qualifications etc., then an employer
is much more likely to call you for an interview.
UPDATE YOUR RESUME FREQUENTLY
Update
your resume at least once in a month. Include any fresh information
that you might have to offer from time to time. Even if there is no
fresh information, updating frequently confirms to prospective employers
that you are ready to change. Remember, employers get to see when the
resume was last updated and they are more likely to call a candidate who
has recently refreshed his resume.
USE KEYWORDS EFFECTIVELY
Keywords
are the key to a resume's prominence in a database. Keywords should be
used to describe your skills and experience as accurately as possible so
that all the relevant employers find your resume. A few examples are
given below :
A Sales professional may choose from : Sales,
Concept Selling, Institutional Sales, Retail Sales, Services, Key
Account Management, Distribution, Business Development etc.
A
Software Programmer may choose from : C, C++, Java, Perl, VC++, VB,
COBOL, WML, XML, HTML, DHTML, Activex, ASP, COM/DCOM, CGI, Perl, Web
Servers, Lotus Domino Unix, Linux, HP/UX, Solaris,Windows NT, Windows
95, Windows 98, IBM, etc.
The keywords given above are just examples and you could use any keyword.
Best of luck
Remember,
you should use as many keywords as possible but use only keywords which
describe the skills / experience you already have.
