With the Google New Blogger, adding AdSense ads, searchbox, and referral
text/button is very easy. All you have to do is to first generate the
Javascript from your AdSense account. For instructions, refer to these
posts (click BACK button to get back to this page):
Generating scripts for your AdSense ads
Blending the colors of your AdSense ads to the colors of your site
Generating script for a Google searchbox
Blending the color of your searchbox to the colors of your site
Once you have generated your script, sign into your Blogger account to get to the Dashboard. You will see a list of blogs you have created (of course if you have created only one, you will only see one blog). Click on LAYOUT. Here is a screenshot of the LAYOUT (click to enlarge):

(Note: This LAYOUT have "Add a Page Element" for the Header and the main
column which you wouldn't have if you use the standard template. If you
want that to add link unit in the Header or Searchbox above the post
like in this blog, refer to Adding graphic, ads, etc. to your blog Header and How to add ads, searchbox, "sticky post", etc to the main column.)
Click "Add a Page Element" (circled in red) in the section you want to add the ad, which in the case of the screenshot, the ad will be added to the right sidebar. A pop-up will appear. Select HTML/Javascript and paste the script in the resulting window. Click "Save to blog". You will see a new HTML/Javascript Page Element added to the section which will initially be right at the top of the section. If that is where you want it to be, then that is all that need to be done. You you want to place it somewhere else, hover your mouse over the Page Element. The cursor will change to a cross (second red circle). Drag the page element to where you want it to be, then click the "Save" button.
