Generate Google custom search and incorporate into blog

Google now has a new custom search. If you want one yourself, you will have to get a AdSense account. Once you have an account, log into your AdSenseAdSense setup tab. That will take you to a page offering 3 choices: "AdSense for Content", "AdSense for Search" and "AdSense for Feeds". Click "AdSense for Search".

On the next page, I would suggest you click on "Single Page" for convenience. In the "Single Page", you will be given many choices. To generate the script for a custom search, tick ( . ) "Only sites I select". Below that, there will be a box for you to enter the URLs of the blog or blogs or websites you want to search. It appears to me there is no limit as to how many URLs you can include. I added 9 URLs and the custom search box you see at the top of this main colum can search those 9 blogs. Try it for yourself and see.

Other choices or input from you include the "look and feel" which gives 3 choices of color for the custom search box, whether you want the results to open in the same window, a new window or even within your own site, text box length, ad location, name for the custom search box, whether to use safe search.

The final step will be to tick a box to indicate you agree to their additional terms for the use of their custom search, then tick "Submit". The next page will give you the script to copy-paste into a HTML/Javascript Page Element (now called gadget).

You get the HTML/Javascript Page Element by going into the LAYOUT and clicking "Add a Gadget" (previously "Add a Page Element"). Refer to Customizing your blog.

Now if you want the custom search box in the same position as me, that is, at the top of the main column, you will not be able to do it with a standard Blogger template. You must additional "Add a gadget".
account.
